Do you remember the 21st night of September? Kawehi and Akira certainly do. They turned that iconic date into a vibrant, joy-filled celebration during their Lotus House wedding. It truly felt like equal parts soul connection and disco daydream. These two have been best friends for twenty years and partners for eight, and their love carries that quiet, steady kind of magic—the kind that feels like it was always meant to be. From the rainbow gowns to their private last dance under the stars, every detail reflected a story full of history, humor, and heart. It was colorful, meaningful, and completely their own. And capturing it all? An absolute honor! Keep scrolling to see all the fun we had together!

Getting Ready: Rainbow Chaos & Sentimental Sparkle
The getting ready suite was a mix of color, movement, and meaning. Kawehi’s gown brought timeless elegance, sleek and structured with a nod to old Hollywood! But it was her accessories that revealed her heart. A vow book bedazzled with Earth, Wind & Fire lyrics, a rhinestone photo charm, and bold heels weren’t just stylish, they reflected her personality, her memories, and what this day meant to her.
Her bridesmaids mirrored that same intention, wearing flowing gowns in every shade of the rainbow. It wasn’t just a pretty visual, it symbolized individuality, joy, and the kind of love that surrounds you when you’re stepping into something big. When Kawehi appeared, their laughter and tears weren’t just reactions, they were a release, a celebration of everything leading up to that moment.
Meanwhile, Akira’s side had its own rhythm! Akira was laid-back but deeply connected. Music played, Red Solo cups clinked, and a circle of carefully arranged sneakers—Jordans, dress shoes, streetwear staples—became an unspoken ritual. It was a moment of expression, camaraderie, and intention. His black suit and maile style leaf lei that symbolizes love and unity on wedding days, blended tradition and personal style, and while his energy was calm, it carried the quiet weight of someone who fully understood the moment: grounded, grateful, and ready.

Dad’s First Look: A Moment That Stopped Time
Kawehi’s first look with her dad was one of the most tender moments of the day. She approached slowly, holding back tears, and as he turned to see her, the emotion hit instantly, for both of them. They embraced, swayed gently, and let the moment unfold without rushing.
It wasn’t just about the reveal, it was about years of love, support, and shared history coming to the surface. The kind of connection that doesn’t need words. For a few quiet minutes, it felt like time paused. The energy in the room softened, grounded by something deep and lasting. This, these quiet, heartfelt pauses, are what weddings are truly made of.

The Ceremony: Bold Flowers & Bigger Feelings
The garden at Lotus House felt alive, glowing in the afternoon light. Kawehi walked down the aisle with quiet confidence, her off-shoulder gown flowing effortlessly and her bouquet bursting with color and intention. Every detail she carried felt like an extension of her. Elegant, vibrant, and full of heart.
Akira’s expression as he saw her said everything. Years of friendship, love, and shared history came rushing forward in one look.
The altar was layered with wild tropical florals, pops of neon ribbon, and mirrored disco accents that caught the breeze. It felt playful and modern, yet rooted in something deeply meaningful. Their ceremony struck the perfect balance between sacred and lighthearted, filled with laughter that only comes when you’ve grown up together. It wasn’t just about promises—it was about honoring everything they’d already built.

The Wedding Party & Bride and Groom Portraits at Their Lotus House Wedding Day
This wedding party brought pure joy to every frame. The bridesmaids wore gowns in a full spectrum of color, each one vibrant and distinct, creating a visual celebration of individuality and connection. The groomsmen matched the energy in sleek dark green tuxes paired with sneakers! A perfect blend of classic and cool.
Group portraits felt less like formal photos and more like moments pulled from a high-energy editorial. There were group hugs, champagne pops, and spontaneous posing that felt effortless and real. The energy was contagious! It was supportive, playful, and completely in sync.
Amid all the celebration, we also stepped aside to capture quiet, intentional portraits of Kawehi and Akira. Surrounded by color and movement, their calm connection came through with every frame. Just the two of them, fully present in the middle of it all.

The Reception at Their Lotus House Weddng Day: A Whole Retro Rave
The reception at their Lotus House wedding day felt like stepping into a dream—part disco, part love story. A black and white checkered dance floor glowed beneath string lights, while a spinning disco ball scattered light across the room. Kawehi and Akira moved through it all like main characters in a retro film, completely in their element.
Their sweetheart table was a burst of personality, layered with neon tulle, bold florals, and a sense of playful celebration that matched the rest of the evening. Every detail reflected their joy and style, setting the tone for a night full of connection and movement.
One of the most heartfelt moments came during the money dance, a cherished Hawaiian tradition where guests pinned bills to the bride and groom as they shared slow dances. What began as a cultural ritual quickly turned into something more. It was a beautiful expression of community, support, and shared joy. And yes, Kawehi’s grandma absolutely stole the dance floor. There was also a Kawehi dance that was a surprise coordinated hula dance for Akira, a group of family and friends joined. It was beautiful to witness and capture!
As the night came to a close and guests began to leave, Kawehi and Akira stayed back for a private last dance. No DJ, no lights—just the two of them, quiet and still in the middle of an empty room. After the music and celebration, it was a moment to breathe, to hold each other, and to fully feel the weight of what they’d just stepped into together.
